Christian Louboutin took a big step forward, especially for a luxury French brand, featuring a plus-size model in their most recent campaign launched on Facebook. Twenty-seven year old French native Clementine Desseaux is the face of their new opulent lip color collection. “Such a big French brand using a curvier girl for her face is a big step.” she recently told the Daily Mail. Founded in 1992, Louboutin is know for their red lacquered shoes and exclusivity. This new #LoubinCharme campaign though is made for the “every woman”, featuring natural beauties that come in all shapes and sizes. Another luxury brand, Marc Jacobs, also broke the norm earlier this year when it had Beth Ditto walk their runway. Slowly as these high fashion brands are introducing a variety of woman into their campaigns and we couldn’t be more excited!
As for Desseaux, things weren’t always so easy for this young model. Growing up in France Clementine found it difficult being a curvy freckled beauty. But she always had a love of clothing and beautiful things, mostly influenced by her very French mother, of course. After earning her Bachelors degree in International Marketing three years ago, Desseaux made the big move to Los Angeles to pursue her modeling career. There she became famous for rocking the body suit for American Apparel, then becoming the face of the French online store Castaluna, and being featured in Eloquii’s campaign. Shortly fter getting signed at Muse Model Management in NYC, the French beauty landed the Louboutin campaign. Things are moving fast for this model and it looks like there is no stopping her! “Any cover would be a great experience. But my dream cover would be Vogue of course,” she told Evolve Magazine earlier this year. Well, Clementine, we’re sure it’s only a matter of time.
