Ever dreamed of being a fashion model? Now’s your chance with popular plus-size brand Eloquii‘s recently launched a “Spotlight Series” featuring customers as models for their eccomerce website. For those of you familiar with the brand, the label was relaunched this past February as Eloquii 2.0, after the former parent, The Limited decided to shut down the plus size fashion darling.
Originally The Limited had great visions for their offshoot brand in 2011, but after deciding to move it’s focus back to the original company, Eloquii was left stranded later that year. Luckily its die hard employees took hold, including some from The Limited, and did a complete overhaul of the brand, taking over the reigns of the company they loved. “A few of us on the management side saw an opportunity to keep it going and try to find an investor, because there was so much outcry when it closed,” Eloquii designer Jodi Arnold told Fashionista in an interview last year. While it was a huge risk, the move definitely paid off in the end for the employees, investors, and brand. Their trend hungry customers were overjoyed at being able to find fashionable plus-size clothing online and business boomed.
The new Spotlight Series e-zine is a monthly “spotlight” featuring a stylish accomplished customer, like opera singer Anne Wright, below in “A Songbird Changes Her Tune”. A year ago Anne could never see herself being the main focus of a fashion photoshoot after only recently realized the effect that clothing made in her outlook, career, and confidence. The beautiful layout is magazine style, and includes a bio, style tips, and, of course, the “model” wearing a variety of looks. Eloquii wanted to pull away from the traditional sales tactics of pushing “flattering”, “sexy”, or “slimming” as a goal, and instead focusing on the real women that are actually wearing their clothes daily and accomplishing the amazing things they have.
We don’t know about you, but we here at PLVSH can’t wait to see the next woman in the Spotlight! Want that to be you? E-mail them at spotlightseries@eloquii.com for consideration.
