This week at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), Lane Bryant’s ‘Plus is Equal’ campaign rocked Times Square.  The campaign was in response to the lack of representation of plus-size women at NYFW.  Further, not one plus-size model was featured in any of the September fashion issues this past month except for an exclusive two page spread paid for by Lane Bryant itself.  The Lane Bryant spread, which featured top plus-size models Candice Huffine, Ashley Graham, Precious Victoria Lee, Georgia Pratt, Justine Legault and Sabina Karlsson wearing the brand’s Fall 2015 collection.

The #PlusIsEqual campaign is a follow-up to the #ImNoAngel campaign that debuted earlier this year in response to the Victoria Secret “Perfect” advertisements.  Lane Bryant’s goal is to bring attention to the lack of diversity in the industry and with this campaign it seems they are accomplishing just that with there “It’s time for a change. Be part of it.” mantra.  To raise awareness of the event, women were asked to share a selfie with the #plusisequal hashtag.  Special guests like television personality Wendy Williams and celebrity stylist Brad Goreski even made an appearance in the sea of supporters flooding Time Square.
