Melissa McCarthy said that over the course of her life, she’s been “every size on the planet. I have experience dressing me as a 6, a 12 and more. when you go above a size 12, you don’t lose your love of fashion.” McCarthy is setting out to do something about it. She has wanted to be a fashion designer ever since grade school and is finally getting her chance. Originally she moved to New York to attend the New York Fashion Institute of Technology, until famed shoe designer Brian Atwood pushed her to do stand up comedy. No stranger to the fashion world, she can be seen dazzling on the red carpet or on the cover of Elle Magazine. This funny lady knows her style.
“I’m at every single design session and we fit on models at two sizes — size 16 and size 22 — I do not just scale up. I try to bring in thoughtful tailoring like bust darts, pleated backs, and blending wovens with knits to provide a great fit and shape for all body types,” she says. “I love clever design details like ruched sleeves and drawstring waistbands that allow for customization, comfort and personal styling.”
The Emmy award-winning actress and comedian has teamed up with Gerard Guez’s Sunrise Brands to create a fashion line called Seven7, including accessories and beauty products for women. Her collection includes flowing tops, so many jeans, fun graphic tees, cozy sweaters and more! All perfect to start off your fall wardrobe. Her new fall collection debuted on HSN.com and is rolling out over the next month at Nordstrom.com, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Von Maur and Lane Bryant. Prices range from a very affordable $54 to $169. Don’t be surprised if you spy some of her pieces in the new Ghostbuster movie!
