Your Guide to Plus Size Ski Wear
I think it’s fair to say that the selections of fun, fashionable plus size clothing continue to grow each year making building our wardrobes a touch easier. Sure, we’re not where we want to be, but we’re making strides. That said, there are still challenges plus size women face when shopping, most notably when they are looking for event specific pieces. Scuba gear, wetsuits or snow pants, anyone? THESE are the difficult things to find, and often times when you do find them they are boring.
With winter in full swing, those of you who like to hit the slopes are going to be in search of some new, stylish pieces to up your snow-bunny style. Sure, an all black pair of ski pants is both practical and stylish, but we want to look fun & fresh, no? We put in the time and found some plus size ski gear that will have you hitting the slopes in a functional and fashionable form.
FUNCTION
Whether you are skiing black diamonds or tubing down a bunny hill, layering up is the key to plus size ski wear. Unfortunately, when you’re plus it can be difficult to layer up and still have comfort & ease of movement. Look for lightweight fabrics that keep you warm or brands that design specifically for the cold, and then build up from there.
Note: While brands like Under Armour don’t design specifically for plus, they do go up to XXXL in men’s. Sure, it’s not ideal, but a long sleeve layering piece will do the same job whether it is men’s or women’s. As we plus size ladies know, you sometimes have to think outside the box!
