STAYING COOL IN THE SUMMER HEAT

Tags: fashion, Looks, Style Syllabus, Summer

While we love the summer, the heat can be a little much at times.  There are even some days when putting on clothes at all can seem like torture!  Choosing the right pieces and fabrics can at least make it a little more tolerable. Once you are comfortable and of course fashionable, you can go back to having some fun in the sun.

Here are our top 3 essentials for surviving the summer heat in plus-size fashion:

The Jean Short

Jean Shorts | Michael Kors Lace Top | Steve Madden Leather Sandal

A bermuda short might be your summer short go to, but don’t be afraid to show a little more leg. A jean short that hits you 3-4 inches above your knee gives you just enough coverage, and saves you from any summer chafing.  Balance out the short with a top that has a little more fabric like this flowy olive top.  While a short/moderate heel can extend your legs for days without coming across as too risque.

The Tank Dress

Tank Dress | Sun Hat | Calvin Klein Wedges | Feather Necklace

The tank dress is a natural breezy summer choice.  This cranberry Chalet dress has a curved waist seam that adds softly structured flattery to a crinkled jersey shift for a laid-back look.  Not a fan of sleeveless? Just throw on a jacket to complete the look or for a chilly office.  Go for a more casual look with a protective sun hat to shade your face.  Or go from day to night with a wedged heel and a long delicate necklace.

The Quality Tee

A staple to every woman’s wardrobe is a couple of quality t-shirts. Cheap low quality tees just don’t survive the wash and look worn very quickly.  Same as a good pair of bootcut denim a good tee can last for years and never goes out of style.  And who doesn’t love a fun sneaker to pair it with? There are so many to choose from now with fun prints, details, and color. When the rest of your outfit is more low key, a stand out shoe can add that extra pop of interest to your look.
