Figuring out what pair of shoes to wear with what kind of pant can be a major fashion challenge. Pointed or rounded toe? Heel or flat?

Put your best foot forward with this basic shoe guide put together by our Plvsh stylists.

Skinny Jeans

A skinny pant should hit you right around the ankle bone and fit snuggly.  Look for ankle boots that taper closely, so there isn’t too much space between the boots and the jeans can scrunch over it.  They are also a great shoe option to show off your favorite flat or pump since the full shoe will be visible.

Ankle Pant

An ankle pant should hit you right at the ankle or just above.   Ultimately, you always want your legs to appear as long as possible. A delicate heel, as opposed to a three to four-inch heel, gives a quiet but elegant touch that elevates the look without overwhelming the pant.  Choose a chunky heel for a modern upgrade or keep it classic with a kitten heel.

Straight Leg

Crown Vintage Flat | Madewell Midi Heel | Vince Camuto Mule

These are one of the most versatile styles of pants, whether denim or trousers. The bottom of this pant should lightly graze the floor.  Pointed toe mid heel pumps tend to look very chic when paired with straight leg pants, as do mid-heel height mules and pointed flats.

Wide Leg

Definitely an on trend pant this season that can difficult to style.  A chunky platform balances the wide-leg while adding height, preventing the pants from making you look bottom heavy. For a casual look opt for a weekend loafer slide.
